The Trouper's Lute is the seven-stringed lute designed by Illien. It is smaller than the cumbersome and overly large court lute, making it easier to transport. The sound is also different from that of its predecessor and carries further. It is mostly used by the Edema Ruh and is Kvothe's favored instrument.[1]
