• Vallare just means "to surround with stone", so it makes sense to me that 'vallare -itas' just translates to "the condition or quality of being surrounded by stone". I see a lot of people reaching for other latin roots, but if we're going the borrowed-latin root seen in some other words in the books, this is what makes the most sense. I just doubt it's actually as much a clue as it is a descriptor.
