According to the doctrine of Tehlin church, Perial is believed to be the mother of Menda who is the mortal form of god Tehlu.[1]
Description[]
Perial is described to be a kind woman, pure of heart and spirit. She is quite selfless who worshipps Tehlu in every circumstances, more for others than for herself. Her life is said to be full of misfortune and hardship where she has to often suffer torment at the hands of Demon and bad men, but she never curses or complains Tehlu about it. She treats every one with kindness and respect and always tries to find good in others.
In The Chronicle[]
According to Trapis's story, Perial, late one night, saw Tehlu in her dream who asked her the reason of his coming. Perial being kind and selfless demanded that he had come to help her neighbours though she knew they were wicked people. She described to him that it's very difficult to live a life of a mortal man which is full of hard choices and hunger and loneliness and so it's not their fault if they are wicked.
Hearing the wise words of Perial, Tehlu reached to touch her heart which made her feel like a great golden bell which had just rung its first note. When she awoke, she knew it was not a normal dream and found out that she was pregnant.
In three months, she gave birth to a baby whom she named as Menda. She hid her baby from everyone as the baby was growing at an alarming rate who had reached his manhood within two months of his birth. But the townsfolk soon discovered that and as she was unmarried so suspected that she had lain down with a Demon and the child was a demon's child.
So, the townsfolk gathered around Perial's tiny house on the first day of seventh span and threatened her to show them the child or they will burn her house. Soon after, Menda came out of the house, who now looked to be seventeen and spoke for the first time and told everyone that he was not Menda but Tehlu, son of himself. And sure enough, Perial recognised his voice, it was the same voice as of Tehlu whom she had seen in her dream.
Speculations[]
- Possibly, Perial was not given the choice of choosing a path by Tehlu as she, being kind and selfless, was already in his right path.
- It's not known what happened with Perial after Menda left her.
- It is speculated that Perial originally belongs to Ademre as it would explain why Adems believe there is no role of a man in giving birth to a child as the virgin Perial was able to give birth to Menda without a man.
