Iron is a metal used for various purposes in the Four Corners, including in currency. Fae have a weakness to iron, as it causes them pain and sickness when they touch it. Both Felurian and Bast say they hate the smell of iron, and the Chronicler calls the name of iron against Bast in The Name of the Wind.
