- "...The Adem built sensibly, hiding their buildings from the weather. Homes were built into the sides of hills, or outward from the leeward walls of sheltering cliffs. Some were dug downward. Others were carved into the stony sides of bluffs. Some you could hardly see unless you were standing next to them. The exception was a group of low stone buildings clustered close together some distance from the road."
- ―Kvothe, describing Haert.[1]
Haert (PR: /'heɪ.əɹt/)[2] is a city in Ademre. It houses an Adem mercenary school that teaches the path of the Latantha, or sword tree and is headed by Shehyn.
Description[]
Haert appears to be fairly closely positioned to the northern border of Ademre.
Haert is described as an extremely windy town with extreme weather, as it is nestled into the foothills of the Stormwal Mountains which are named for their frequent and powerful storms. Due to this, the houses are not arranged or made typically. The homes are usually carved into things, such as bluffs or hills, some of which are barely visible. The exception to this is the school buildings. These buildings are described as being made of many differently sized pieces of stone that are cobbled together with no mortar.
The mercenary trade in Haert has allowed the village to prosper humbly, with real glass in their windows, expensive iron stoves, well-made rugs, and wooden floors.
