Cammar is a tall, one-eyed giller of Kilvin who teaches Ferrous and Cupric Metallurgy in the Fishery. He wears a patch over the hollow of his left eye, from which a web of scars radiates out. These scars leave bald strips in his black hair and beard, but later it is stated that he is entirely bald. He is described as being Kilvin's second in command and his gatekeeper, as he teaches sygaldry to the younger students. Once a student passes the sygaldry exam under Cammar, which most students take a month to complete or even an entire term, they are permitted to move on to an apprenticeship.
